History of Rose Hall Jamaica
The town of Rose Hall is centered around the old Rose Hall Plantation just outside of Montego Bay in Jamaica. The Rose Hall Jamaica plantation is famous for one of its original owners Annie Palmer. It is said that Annie Palmer possessed magical powers and as such she we referred to as the White Witch of Rose Hall Jamaica. The Rose Hall Jamaica plantation consisting of thousands of acres of sugar cane was built in 1770. It was passed down through the family to John Rose Palmer who married and English girl named Annie Palmer in 1820. As history has it Annie Palmer was a ruthless mistress commanding the slaves with an iron fist. Bored of the island life style she started having affairs with her slaves. However, once Annie Palmer took a man to bed their days were numbered as it is said she did away with them as soon as she gets bored.
Annie Palmer killed her first husband and took over the Rose Hall Jamaica Plantation and went on to kill two more husbands and countless slaves it is said. She also practiced black magic she learned from the slaves and hence she got the name the White Witch of Rose Hall Jamaica. Unfortunately for Annie Palmer she took the promised husband of a slave's daughter to bed and killed him. With his daughter grief stricken, the slave who was also verse in black magic engaged and managed to kill Annie Palmer. They built a special grave for her which is still on the property however it is said the burial ritual was not done properly. As a result Annie Palmer is said to still roam the Rose Hall Jamaica Great House.
